How is the Pre-Insulated Pipe Installation Performed?

The correct installation of pipelines is very important for a solid structure and safe operation. In particular, the installation of steel service pipes must be carried out in accordance with certain standards. In this article, we will tell you what you need to know about pre-insulated pipe installation.

Excavation Work

The floor in the installation area should be made suitable. Unsound floors should be made suitable for pipe installation and 10 cm of sand should be placed under the pipeline. If it is on watery floors, it is necessary to drain the ground water.

Installation of Steel Service Pipe

Welding of steel service pipes must be carried out in accordance with the EN 287-1 standard. In addition, radiographic examination should be performed in accordance with EN 444 and EN 1435 standards.

Splice Octane Insulation

For pre-insulated pipe installation, the coupling set should be passed over the outer sheath housing pipe. After the steel service pipe welding is completed and the tests are carried out, the surfaces on which the joining set will come should be cleaned with solvent or alcohol.

The joining set should be placed centered so that it is superimposed on the steel pipe sheath by a minimum of 10 cm. The surfaces of the joining set and the pre-insulated package pipe to be wrapped with heat shrink tape should first be cleaned with solvent or alcohol, then sanded with a wire brush until the gloss disappears.

After the sanded surface is heated with the help of purmuz, heat shrink tapes should be applied to the heated surfaces for sealing purposes using purmuz. In cases where the ambient temperature drops below +10°C and rises above +40°C, heat shrink tapes should be wrapped.

After the installation process is completed, sealing tests should be performed and the assembly of the coupling set should be completed with polyurethane injection. Octane insulation can also be done with a heat shrink joint set.

The installation of pre-insulated pipes must be carried out in accordance with certain standards. It is important to follow the following steps for correct installation:

  1. Ground preparation: The unsound parts of the ground under the pipeline should be made suitable. For this purpose, leveling should be carried out by laying at least 10 cm of sand under the pipeline. If it is on watery floors, the ground water should definitely be drained.
  2. Welding process: The welding of the steel service pipe must be carried out in accordance with the welding technique and the EN 287-1 standard. The radiographic examination must comply with EN 444 and EN 1435.
  3. Installation of the assembly set: The joining kit should be placed centered so that it is superimposed at least 10 cm on the steel pipe sheath, and the surfaces to be wrapped with heat shrink tape should first be cleaned with solvent or alcohol, then sanded with a wire brush until the gloss is gone. After the sanded surface is heated with the help of purmuz, heat shrink tapes should be applied to the heated surfaces for sealing purposes using purmuz.
  4. Insulation of the joint: After the assembly process is completed, leakage tests should be performed and the assembly of the joint set should be completed with polyurethane injection. Joint insulation can also be done with a heat shrink joint set.
